When you are working with a closed polygon (Fill, Polyline, Slab, Roof etc) and want to apply a radius or chamfer to a corner you do not need to guess the maximum value, or work it out manually - you can get ARCHICAD to do this for you, automatically.
To find the maximum value is really simple - you select your closed polygon then click a corner and choose the Fillet/Chamfer… option as shown with the Fill below:
The Fillet / Chamfer dialog will then appear with a value already visible in the Radius field. This value will be based on the last used radius:
To find the maximum radius you need to select the current value (in order to overwrite it) and then you have two techniques you can use...
- The Bash Technique: pick a number and hit it lots of times!
- The Slash Technique: press number 9 then slash your finger down the keys!
Here is what the result might look like: 7777777777777 or 98765432. The actual value does not matter - all that matters is that you create a number larger than anything possible in the geometry!
Once you have entered the number, ARCHICAD will think for a second and then update the field with the maximum possible radius... and that is it. Simple :-)
Here is a video showing a couple of examples:
