Filter Elements in 3D

When you work with large 3D models, navigation can become slow due to the number of Polygons.  Common ways to improve this situation usually involve turning Layers off or using a Marquee to limit the window content.  However, another option is available!

Go to View> Elements in 3D View> Filter and Cut Elements in 3D… and use the buttons highlighted below to switch on or off entire element types:

In this example, the Doors and Windows are hidden (something that cannot be controlled with Layers!) but the model is still easy to navigate as the openings remain visible.

The filters are saved with Views so you can create new Views specifically for Navigation while retaining unfiltered Views for documentation purposes.
