Using the Quick Options Bar

Ken

You may, or may not, have noticed the new Quick Options Bar in ARCHICAD 20:

By default, this is shown to the bottom of each window in ARCHICAD 20, with the content varying slightly depending on what type of window is open (Plan, Elevation, Detail or 3D etc).

If you cannot see the Quick Options Bar - go to Window> Show Quick Options Bar:

Edit Settings of all Tools at once!

Ken

How often do you grab a selection of Elements and want to change all their Layers to a different one - or set all the colors to be the same?  And then the frustration when you realise only one element type (the last one randomly selected) will change?

Well, this does not have to be the case!  Rather than using the Infobox or Element Settings (Line, Polyline etc), use the Edit Selection Set command…

Edit Composite or Complex Profile Settings the quick way!

Ken

One of the easiest ways to save time and increase productivity in ARCHICAD is to make use of the context sensitive right-click menu options.

One example that can be significantly quicker than previous version workflow is to select a composite wall / slab / roof then right-click the mouse and choose Edit Selected Composite... as shown below:

Uniform Settings for Line Tools

Ken

How many times have you set up and drawn a bunch of Lines then switched to the Arc / Circle Tool only to find it draws with completely different properties?  I know this has caught me out hundreds, if not thousands, of times over the past 20 years!!  With the following ArchiHACK you need worry no more!

Access Settings from Quick Options

Ken

The Quick Options palette that has been part of ARCHICAD since version 10 was redesigned in ARCHICAD 19… but not that you would notice as it looks virtually identical.  However – it now includes a fantastic set of shortcuts that make life a lot easier.

If, for example, you are working on a project and want to go to Model View Options – before ARCHICAD 19 you would have to go to Document> Set Model view> Model view Options…
