Find those elements, wherever they are!

Ken

This has to be one of the simplest and easiest commands in ARCHICAD - but one that is often overlooked… yet it is one of my personal favorites!

Direction Dependent Selection

Ken

Do you know how to select elements in ARCHICAD with the Direction Dependent Selection method?  This has been available for a number of versions and is a really useful option – but in the default installation, it is not activated, so you may not even be aware of it.

To activate Direction Dependent Selection, go to the Arrow Tool and click the first button in the Infobox as highlighted below:

“The bulk of my career in architecture has been firmly and happily spent in the Fine Art world of the commonly known 2D hand rendering style and the skillful play between pen weights and poche, or shadows. However, there is an incredible shift in this profession today that is even more beautiful – 3D modeling and BIM production in ARCHICAD. Graphisoft has built for my firm such a powerful platform for rendering that today’s most savvy clients get excited. No matter the style or size of architecture, the production end of ARCHICAD and BIM makes this architect and business owner excited!”

ARCHICAD has been the primary software in my architectural practice for over a decade. I am continuously impressed by the powerful solution ARCHICAD offers for the design process from early design through construction. I love that I never need to “dumb-down” my virtual designs at any point along the way! The power of the virtual model is incredible through every stage of the project and it is especially helpful for many clients who otherwise struggle with visualization of their project.
